And the winners are

Wer die Verlierer des Afghanistan-Debakels sind, steht schon seit langem fest. Es wurde nur alles viel viel schlimmer als in den schlimmsten Stunden vor dem 15. August befürchtet.

Wer die Gewinner sind, auch. Die Taliban natürlich - Seth J. Franzmann zählt außerdem die staatlichen auf: Qatar, Russia, China, Pakistan, Turkei, Iran.

Dann wären noch ein paar nichtstaatliche, zum Beispiel der Islamische Staat, Boko Haram, Al Qaida und alle anderen jihadistischen Bewegungen auf diesem Globus.

Und natürlich die Hamas. Die freut sich gleich so, dass sie ihren Glaubenskriegerkameraden ganz offiziell gratuliert:

"We congratulate the Muslim Afghan people for the defeat of the American occupation on all Afghan lands, and we congratulate the Taliban movement and its brave leadership on this victory, which came as the culmination of its long struggle over the past 20 years,”

Freuen tun sich derweil auch diverse Neonazis etwa in den USA über die Niederlage der verhassten Regierung in Washington und ganz sicher finden sich weltweit nicht wenige Linke, denen es es ähnlich geht und die nur hoffen, dass die Taliban in Zukunft ein ganz wenig besser mit afghanischen Frauen umgehen:

Many of these posts were blatantly antisemitic and celebrated the Taliban’s resistance to a global Jewish cabal, a racist and inaccurate trope commonly cited on Telegram.

“If white men in the West had the same courage as the Taliban, we would not be ruled by Jews currently,” said the same Proud Boys-linked post, viewed close to 2,500 times. 

Though several of the posts spread across multiple accounts salute the victory of the Taliban, they are also quick to point out that they hate the Middle East and people of color. But to the far right, whose number one enemy is the United States government and its global network of allies, seeing the “System” (the shorthand word among the far right for world governments) resisted is a victory for their dystopian worldview. It is also clear that the accounts promoting the Taliban victory saw the historical event as a key propaganda victory for the future: This will forever be an example of an American government failure, akin to the fall of Saigon in 1975.
