Generalstreik in Iranisch-Kurdistan

Nachdem sich die verschiedenen kurdischen Oppositionsparteien auf eine gemeinsame Position zur Unterstützung der Massenproteste geeinigt haben, wurde nun ein Generalstreik in Iranisch-Kurdistan ausgerufen.

Am 5. Januar solidarisierten sich alle relevanten kurdischer Parteien im Iran mit den Protesten, die auch heute trotz massiver Repression seitens der Sicherheitskräfte weiter gingen:

“On January 5, 2026, seven political parties from the Dialogue Center for Inter-Party Cooperation in Iranian Kurdistan gathered for a high-level meeting,” the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) said in a statement. The parties discussed “recent political developments in Iran and the current situation in Kurdistan.”

According to the statement, participants expressed “full support for the nationwide protests and popular uprisings against the Islamic Republic,” emphasizing the need for “effective joint cooperation to strengthen these movements.”

Protests sparked by worsening economic conditions have spread across several Iranian provinces, leaving more than 18 people dead and over 170 arrested, according to an Oslo-based human rights monitor.

So wird erwartet, dass sich die meisten Geschäfte dem Aufruf für einen Generalstreik anschließen. Bislang hatte es in Kurdistan zwar auch Demonstrationen gegeben, sie waren allerdings noch nicht so massiv, wie während der "Jin Jiyan Azadi" Proteste 2022:

On the tenth day of protests across Iran, demonstrations have continued to expand, particularly in Kurdistan regions, taking on a more organised and sustained character. In line with its long-established pattern of repression, the Islamic Republic has once again responded with violence, with reports indicating a disproportionate use of force in peripheral and marginalised areas. (...)

As protests continue to intensify and following the call by Kurdish political parties for a general strike on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Hengaw Organization for Human Rights expresses its solidarity with protesters across Iran and its sympathy with the people of Ilam, Kermanshah (Kermashan), and Lorestan, who have endured severe violence in recent days. Hengaw calls on people across Iran, and particularly in Kurdistan regions, to stand in solidarity with people in Ilam, Kermanshah, and Lorestan who remain under sustained pressure.
