US will Truppen aus Syrisch-Kurdistan abziehen

The United States has no plans to stay in Syrian Kurdistan (northern Syria) after the defeat of Islamic State (IS) militants, a spokesperson said in response to remarks from a spokesman from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

“That is not our plan. Our intent is to defeat ISIS and we’re keeping our focus on that,” U.S. State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert said on Friday in response to a question on whether the U.S. would stay in northern Syria.

SDF Spokesman Talal Silo previously said in an interview with Reuters the U.S. military would remain in Syrian Kurdistan-Rojava [Kurdish controlled areas in northern Syria] long after IS militants are defeated.
