There are no functioning hospitals left in Khartoum after weeks of fighting, Sudan's Doctor's Union told Al Arabiya on Tuesday.

All the capital's hospitals are out of service, the union said, hours after it urged for civilians to be evacuated from the "senseless war".

Health care was minimal as fighting created a shortage of basic goods.

Medical facilities and doctors have been attacked in the city of Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, the union said on Tuesday, in an "brutal attack".

The exact death toll could be much higher according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan and the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors (CCSD) as many bodies cannot be reached and most records only contain deaths reported by health facilities.
